Mallards Run Win Streak To Three

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team edged Gunston, 2-1, on the road on Monday to collect its third straight victory and improve to 9-2-2 on the season.

Last week, the Mallards edged St. Thomas More, 2-1. Worcester led 1-0 at the half and swapped goals with St. Thomas More in the second half to pull out the 2-1 win.

Back in action on Monday on the road against Gunston, the Mallards got on the board about 26 minutes into the contest on a head-in goal by Thomas Fager off a cross from Ryan Cronin. In the second half, Fager returned the favor with a nice assist on a goal by Vincent Petrera. The goal was the 20th for Petrera this season. Cooper Richins collected four saves in the net for Worcester.

With the pair of wins, Worcester improved to 9-2-2 on the season. They have now won three straight and four of the last five with a tie in the mix since suffering their last lost to Delmar earlier this month.
