Seahawks Win District, Qualify For States

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team captured the District 8 championship last week in Cambridge, but fell to Kent Island by a single stroke in the Bayside Conference championship on Tuesday.

The Seahawks, who won the Bayside South title this season, took the District 8 championship at the Hyatt in Cambridge last week with a low team score of 328 to qualify for the state championship match next week. Brady Leonard was the male medalist in the match with a 75, while Emily Malinowski shot 80, Hayden Snelsire shot 83 and Joe Beck shot 90.

On Tuesday, Decatur played Kent Island in the Bayside Conference championship at Glen Riddle and lost to the Buccaneers by a single stroke, 350-351, in a match that came down to the last hole.
