WEST OCEAN CITY- Two young wrestlers from the Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club earned All-American honors last weekend after placing high in their respective age-weight divisions at the Eastern National Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association Championships in Salisbury.
The ESIWC’s Andy McKahan of Berlin placed fourth in the Intermediate 105 lb. division, while Jagger Clapsadle of West Ocean City finished sixth in the Junior 62 lb. division. The top eight place winners in each division of the tournament, which featured hundreds of wrestlers from all over the mid-Atlantic region, earned All American honors.
The two local wrestlers earned spots in the MAWA Eastern Nationals last weekend at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center by finishing in the top four in their respective age-weight classes at the MAWA South Regional Tournament in Salisbury earlier this spring. McKahan finished first in his division in the qualifier event, while Clapsadle finished third.
The Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club, under the direction of Coach Keith Tobin and his staff, provides young grapplers in the area with training and mentoring all year around in an effort to provide them with a foundation for future success. The ESIWC wrestlers excelled at events all over the region this winter and spring culminating with the high finishes and All American honors for McKahan and Clapsadle last weekend.
