Mallards Capture Sixth Straight Title

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team blanked Holly Grove, 1-0, last Friday in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) championship game for its sixth straight title.

The Mallards were nearly perfect on the season, their only loss coming to Delaware powerhouse Cape Henlopen in a non-conference game, 3-0, back on September 30. The Worcester boys also tied Gunston, 2-2, in the season opener shortened by a thunderstorm.

Otherwise, the Mallards enjoyed winning streaks of six wins and four wins on both sides of the loss to Cape. Worcester beat Gunston, 4-1, in the ESIAC semifinals last Wednesday before edging Holly Grove in the conference championship game last Friday for their sixth straight title.
