BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestling team cruised past Arcadia last week to improve to 8-1 on the season.
Against Arcadia, the Seahawks got forfeit wins by Keegan Mitchell at 106 and Austin Miller at 113. Josh Lawson beat Arcadia’s Alberto Salazar at 120, Robert Kaminski beat Emmanuel Zuniga at 126 and Jeremy Danner won by forfeit at 132 to stake Decatur to an early 30-3 lead.
Arcadia got on the scoreboard with a win by Kenny Valle over Decatur’s David Bracicszewski at 138, but the Seahawks answered with a win by Andy McKahan over Trevor Barnes at 145. Arcadia won its last bout of the match at 152 when Michael Radich beat Dominic Klebe.
Decatur’s Luke Zolenski won by forfeit at 160, while Jacob Caple beat Arcadia’s Alex Ayala at 170. Alan Means beat Arcadia’s Emmanuel Belote at 182 and Caleb Bourne beat Julian Dedicatoria at 195. Jian Jobeen beat Austin Studebaker at 220 and Ean Spencer beat William Bagwell at 285 to close out the 69-9 win for the Seahawks, who saw their record improve to 8-1. The Seahawks only loss came way back in the season opener against North Caroline, 38-34, and they have since reeled off eight straight wins.
