Issue Highlights
• Breakfast service at the Ship Cafe and Marina on 14th Street started at 6 in the morning.
• The Sea Scape Motel was pairing golf with room nights in an ad. “A mid-season package plan for the sport minded family, all centered around Ocean City’s challenging 18-hole championship golf course.”
• The new Ocean Lanes bowling alley on 71st Street was being advertised as, “The newest, most modern lanes on the shore.”
• Dayton Brothers, offering “the world’s finest chicken,” had two locations at this time – Boardwalk in the pier building and Boardwalk at South Division Street.
• Managers Casher and Mable Evans invited guests to their Fenwick Crab House on “Beach Hiway.”
• In his City Hall report, Councilman C.H. Shuey worte, “our second bridge across Assawoman Bay will land at about 62nd St. … the chosen loction is a wise choice since it will provide evaculation route for the central area of the town and also it will help relieve the troublesome traffic congestion caused by cars trying to get north through the jammed-up part of the old city.”
• Host Pete Boinis offered “dancing nitely” at his new “hunka munka” cocktail lounge.
• Featured in Hess Apparel’s full-page ad was Susan MacVeigh, who was modeling a swimsuit by High Tide.
