BERLIN- After dropping its season opener, the Worcester Prep girls’ varsity lacrosse team has now reeled off five straight wins in impressive fashion to improve to 6-1 on the season.
The Mallards fell to Garrison Forest, 19-11, in the season opener back on March 28, but since have been nearly unstoppable in rolling to six straight victories. The Worcester girls then collected two wins at the Karl Wolf Tournament last week, beating Reservoir, 20-4, and then host Howard, 9-8, in the tournament championship.
Since then, the Mallards have four more in a row, beating Gunston, 20-1; Tower Hill, 21-10; St. Mary’s Ryken, 15-4; and rival Saints Peter and Paul, 15-4, on Monday. During the stretch, the Mallards have averaged nearly 17 goals a game and outscored their opponents by a combined 100-31. The Worcester girls face Salisbury School on the road next Wednesday before returning home for a tough game against Calverton next Friday.
