WEST OCEAN CITY- Two young wrestlers from the Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club placed in their respective age and weight classes at the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA) South Region District Qualifier in Salisbury last weekend to advance to the Eastern National Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association championships in May.
The Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club, under the direction of Coach Keith Tobin and his staff, provides young grapplers in the area with training and mentoring all year around in an effort to provide them with a foundation for future success. Earlier this spring, a handful of ESIWC wrestlers qualified for the MAWA South Regional Tournament in Salisbury last weekend with a chance to advance to the national tournament in May.
The top four finishers in each bracket advanced to the nationals in May and two ESIWC wrestlers qualified last week. Andy McKahan took first in his divison, while Jagger Clapsadle finished third. Each will now compete at nationals in May. Two other local wrestlers, Anthony Caruso and Logan Tapman finished fifth and sixth in their respective divisions.
