Bank Promotion

BERLIN – Raymond M. Thompson, President and CEO of Taylor Bank, announced that Scott P. Williams has been promoted to assistant manager of the bank’s Main Office in downtown Berlin.

Williams graduated from Salisbury University in 2005 with Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He joined Taylor Bank in 2006 as a teller and was promoted to management trainee in June 2008. He has received training in branch operations, loan processing and credit review in the bank’s Berlin and Ocean Pines locations.

New Addition Announced

BERLIN – Edward M. Thomas, President and CEO of The Bank of Delmarva, recently announced that Scott J. Rukowicz joined the bank as Assistant Vice-President-Branch Manager for the Laurel location.

Rukowicz brings over 15 years of banking and management experience with him.

Hospital Board Election

SALISBURY – At its annual Board of Directors meeting on Oct. 1, Peninsula Regional Health System members elected four of their peers to leadership roles on the Health System Board of Directors and the Medical Center’s Board of Trustees.

Murray (Ray) K. Hoy, Ed.D was elected chairman of the Health System Board of Directors and chairman of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. Hoy, who was initially elected to the Health System Board of Directors and the Medical Center Board of Trustees in 2002, is the president of Wor Wic Community College in Salisbury. He replaces Farouk Sultani, MD, who served as chairman of both boards from October of 2006 through this year.

Elected vice chairman of both governing bodies was Martin Neat, President/CEO of First Shore Federal Savings & Loan Association. He was initially elected to the Health System Board of Directors and the Medical Center Board of Trustees in 2005.

Edward W. Urban was elected secretary of the Health System and Medical Center Boards. Urban is the Executive Vice President of Harvard Custom Manufacturing. He was initially elected to the Peninsula Regional Board of Trustees in 1996 and Medical Center the Board of Directors in 1999.

Elected Treasurer was William R. McCain, President/CEO of W.R. McCain Associates and current vice president of the Wicomico County Council. McCain was initially elected to the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees in 2005.

Physician Assistant Wins Award

SALISBURY – Steve Wilson, PA-C, of Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute, was recently chosen as the winner of the American Academy of Physician Assistants’ 2009 John W. Kirklin Award for Professional Excellence.

This award has been reserved for surgical physician assistants who have made significant contributions to the profession. It is considered the highest award a surgical physician assistant can receive and is given out only if there is a deserving recipient. It has only been awarded fifteen times in the last 21 years.

The John W. Kirklin Award for Professional Excellence is reserved only for those who have proven their devotion to the surgical physician assistant profession by service and sacrifice and contributed to promoting the profession over an extended period of time. To even be considered as a nominee, one must be of irreproachable character, known to exhibit the highest standards of excellence in their professional life and noted for contributions to the PA profession.

Wilson has over 34 years experience as a PA, 24 of those in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. He has been with Peninsula Regional for the past five years working closely with cardiothoracic surgeons Nicholas Ogburn, Stephen Julian, James Todd and Kurt Wehberg of CV Surgical Associates, P.A. of Salisbury, Maryland.
