Company Supports Alumni Site

SALISBURY – Prospective homebuyers will have a fresh, new way to search for newly constructed homes on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Virginia and Delaware starting this summer.

EasternShoreHousing.com, an innovative new website showcasing communities, builders, homes and towns across the shore, will launch on July 1.

The start-up site is locally owned and operated by an energetic staff that includes Salisbury University (SU) alumni who have decided to stay on the shore to pursue something they believe will change the way people search for homes on the peninsula. The team includes Katie Redmiles, a 2007 graduate from the Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University, and Adam Rones, a 2007 graduate from the Perdue School of Business.

“I’m very particular about where I want to live,” founder Blake Pierson said. “For me, finding a place to call home is as much about finding a local culture that fits my lifestyle as it is about finding a house that I like. I love reading or working in coffee shops so I’d search for a home that has nearby coffee shops, so why not give others that same option? Everyone’s interests differ so we wanted to empower people to search based on what’s important to them and what their lifestyles require so they can truly discover a place to call home.’

The site has already gained the support of Burbage Communities, a staple of Eastern Shore development for 23 years. Owned and operated by John (Jack) H. Burbage, Jr. an Todd E. Burbage, SU alum ’95, Burbage Communities offers a wide array of housing and community options ranging from Sunset Bay in Chincoteague, Va., a 65-unit waterfront condominium building, to Bay Point Plantation in Berlin, a waterfront community with 33 single-family land sites.

“This website will be great for the Eastern Shore and I really see it revolutionizing the home search process on and off the shore, and that’s why I’ve committed to include my communities on the site. There’s nothing else quite like it out there for both the home buyers and the builders,” Todd Burbage said.
