Decatur Wrestlers Open Season With 80-0 Rout

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestling team got its season off to a fast start last week, routing visiting Mardela, 80-0, in the opener at home.

After wins by forfeit by Caleb Myers at 106 and Shamar Barnes at 113, Decatur’s Jagger Clapsadle got the Seahawks first contested win of the year at 120 with a decisive victory over Jacob Scott. Nico D’Amico won by forfeit at 126 and Robert Mitchell beat Mardela’s Braxton Thomas at 132.

Noah Reho kept the momentum going for Decatur with a win over Dakota Lovelace at 138, while Kyle Elliott beat Sam Balcerak at 145. Alex Koulikov beat Clay Cox at 152 and Jhymir Blake beat Wesley Prince at 160. John Hoffman beat Nicholas Smithhart at 170 and Lukas Layton won by forfeit at 182.

In the heavier weight classes, Micah Bourne beat Nicholas Parsons at 195 and Daletez Smith won by forfeit at 220. Finally, Dakota Souder beat Mardela’s Elijah Brown at 285.
