UPDATE: Body Found In Herring Creek Identified

WEST OCEAN CITY — Boaters recovered the body of a West Ocean City man found floating in Herring Creek early Wednesday morning, and while no foul play is suspected early on, the investigation is ongoing.

Maryland State Police continue to investigate the recovery of a deceased individual in Herring Creek early Wednesday morning. Shortly after 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, two people in a boat were traveling along Herring Creek when they discovered the body of a male floating face down in the water under the Herring Creek bridge.

The boaters brought the body to shore and called 911.

The victim has since been identified as Ronald Jones, Jr., 49, of West Ocean City. According to a preliminary investigation, there are no signs of foul play. The deceased was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted. The incident remains under investigation and no further details were available as of Thursday.
