Decatur Golfers Win Season Opener

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team won its season opener on Tuesday, besting the field with a team low score of 156 in the first Bayside match of the year at the Newport Bay course at the Ocean City Golf Club.

The Seahawks posted a team score of 156 to win the match, while Bennett was second with 167 and Parkside was third at 184. Decatur’s Matt Kinsey was co-medalist in the season opener with an even-par 36 for the nine holes. Parkside’s Jakob Keidel also shot a 36 and co-medaled for the Rams. As far as the rest of the Seahawks, Tanner Leonard shot a 39, Brady Leonard shot a 40, Matt Kristick shot 41 and Spencer Carbaugh shot 45.
