OCEAN CITY- The Delmarva Dolphins under-13 girls’ lacrosse team went undefeated on their way to the championship in the Brine Girls Lacrosse Festival last weekend.
The tournament took place all weekend with games played practically around the clock at Northside Park in Ocean City featuring some of the best girls’ lacrosse programs in the country. The Delmarva Dolphins, made up largely of girls from the Ocean City and Salisbury area swept its five bracket games in impressive fashion to advance to the semifinals and ultimately the championship game in the under-13 bracket last Sunday.
The Dolphins beat HoCo, 7-0, in their opener, then beat Catonsville, 12-0. The local girls then beat the CYLA Storm, 4-2, followed by another 4-2 win over HLC. In their fifth game on Saturday, the Dolphins beat the Greene Turtle-Towson, 5-1, to advance to the semifinals. In their semifinal match-up, the Dolphins beat the Fallston Legends, 5-3, then topped HLC, 7-2, in the title game to finish the tournament undefeated and claim the championship.
Meanwhile, the Brine Boys Beach Lacrosse tournament featuring some of the top boys’ youth programs in the country was going on simultaneously Saturday and Sunday on fields all over the Berlin area.
