Seahawks Bow Out Of Regional Tournament

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity baseball team fell to host Chesapeake, 7-2, on Wednesday in the state 3A-East sectional final, but the loss did little to tarnish what was a remarkable season for the Seahawks.

Decatur entered the 3A-East Section II tournament as the second seed and took care of business against visiting Northeast at home on Monday in the second round, 6-2. The Seahawks scored early and kept tacking on runs throughout the game for starter Tristan McDonough, who was outstanding on the mound.

The win advanced the Seahawks to the sectional final and a trip across the bridge on Wednesday to face top-seeded Chesapeake. Chesapeake scored two in the second and three more in the fourth to jump out to a 5-0 lead. Chesapeake added two more in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-0. Decatur got two runs in the top of the seventh and had runners on base, but Chesapeake closed out the 7-2 win to advance to the regional championship.
