BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a narrow 10-8 loss to Parkside last Wednesday, but it won’t take long for the Seahawks’ to have an opportunity to avenge the defeat to its old Bayside South rival.
The Seahawks fell to the Rams, 10-8, last Wednesday, closing out a challenging 2016 regular season. Decatur struggled early, but began putting it together late in the season, winning three of five games in late April. However, the loss to Parkside in the regular season finale last week dropped their overall record to 4-8.
However, Decatur has the opportunity to avenge that loss to the Rams in the first round of the state 3A-2A regional tournament. When the brackets were released on Monday, the Seahawks earned a number-five seed and a rematch with fourth-seeded Parkside in the first round. If the Seahawks get by Parkside, looming in the second round is recent nemesis Kent Island, which earned the top seed in Section I and a first-round bye. Easton is the number-two seed in the sectional and will face third-seeded Bennett.
