BERLIN — Berlin’s Annual Clean-Up Day will be Saturday, April 16 and will be the official start of Take Pride in Berlin Week, running from Saturday, April 16 to Saturday, April 23.
“For more than a decade, volunteers have dedicated a few hours on an April Saturday to help give Berlin’s parks, downtown and neighborhoods a spring cleaning with individuals and teams helping with planting, weeding, raking, mulching and whatever else needs attention,” said Town Administrative Services Director Mary Bohlen.
New this year will be sprucing up the front of the building at the town’s new facility, Berlin Falls Park (former Tyson property), located on Old Ocean City Boulevard.
Sign-up on April 16 begins at 8:30 a.m. in Stephen Decatur, Henry and Berlin Falls parks and clean-up goes until noon, followed by lunch in Henry Park for all volunteers. Some supplies, such as rakes, shovels and gardening tools, will be available for use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if possible.
Adult volunteers are also needed for the annual Hudson Branch Clean-Up. Heavy-lifting and wet conditions are involved, so appropriate attire is strongly suggested. Please contact Steve Farr at 410-629-1538 or [email protected] if you wish to help at Hudson Branch.
During Take Pride in Berlin Week, residents and businesses are encouraged to show their Berlin Pride in whatever way is most meaningful to them. Share your “Berlin Pride” on Facebook at “Take Pride in Berlin Week”.
On Saturday, April 23, join Berlin businesses in showing their Berlin Pride during the Business Open House.
Following Clean-Up Day and Take Pride in Berlin Week, Berlin Public Works will have special spring collection days for yard waste and bulk items in April and May. Visit the Town’s webpage, at www.berlinmd.gov.
