BERLIN — Residents are not expected to be impacted by a scheduled power blackout in Berlin on Sunday, April 3 from 12:30-9 a.m.
Tim Lawrence, who is the town’s utilities director, said the blackout will be due to scheduled maintenance of the transformer located at the shopping center on Old Ocean City Boulevard where the Food Lion grocery store and other stores are located.
“We’re doing some prep work to replace the trans-closure for one of our transformers,” said Lawrence. “There is total of seven in town, and this is the third one we’ve replaced.”
Lawrence is hopeful that residents will not lose power and assured the Mayor and Council that police, fire and EMS and the businesses were aware of the scheduled blackout.
