St. Patrick’s Soccer Tourney Underway

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s 28th annual St. Patrick’s Soccer Tournament got underway last weekend with championships decided in the boys’ and girls’ under-18 division and the new Adult Co-Rec Division.

From modest beginnings 27 years ago, the annual St. Patrick’s Tournament has grown by leaps and bounds and has become one of the largest events of its kind in the mid-Atlantic region. Over the course of four weekends, starting last Friday through Sunday, over 150 teams will compete in 12 divisions, showcasing some of the top boys’ and girls’ soccer talent in the region.

The tournament got underway last weekend at Northside Park with the boys’ and girls’ under-18 division and the Adult Co-Rec Divisions taking the courts. For the record, the Hard Yacht Café team won the Adult Co-Rec division, beating The Horse You Came in On in the championship game. In the boys’ under-18 division, it was the RSC Express topping FC Barcelona in the title game. The Kraken team beat the New G’s to won the girls’ under-18 division.

The weekend, the boys’ and girls’ under-12 and under-16 divisions will take the courts. The Adult Men’s and Women’s Divisions will be contested on the weekend of March 11-13, while the tournament will wrap up with the boys’ and girls’ under-10 and under-14 divisions on March 18-20.
