Decatur Girls Run Win Streak To 13 Games

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity basketball team enjoyed another successful week, sweeping three games to run their winning streak to a lucky 13.

The Seahawks beat Mardela, 40-21, in a physical contest last Thursday, then routed Indian River at home, 61-20, in a rare late season non-conference game. Back in action on Tuesday, the Decatur girls cruised past Kent County on the road, 73-24, to run their current win streak to 13 games.

The Seahawks last lost back on December 28 in the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury. Against Kent County on Tuesday, Dayona Godwin went off for 39 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Amaya Mumford scored 14 and Lexie VanKirk added 11 against the Warriors.
