OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s winter adult indoor soccer league is in full swing with a full slate of games last week at Northside Park.
Through the early part of the season, the River Soccer Club is in first place in the standings with three wins, no losses and one tie. Brazil is in second with a 2-1-1 record. Three teams are tied for third with identical 2-2 records including Kirby’s Pub, Sunsations and The Cure. Club Xela is winless at 0-4 thus far and is bringing up the rear in the standings.
The following is a quick look at some recent action:
• Kirby’s Pub 8- Sunsations 3: Kirby’s got balanced scoring from up and down its roster with two goals each from Shaun Bounds, Tanner East and Brandon Tolan, along with single goals by Larry Cornish and Colby Bounds. Sunsations got two goals from Luan Sales and a single goal by Alberto Pacheco.
• The Cure 4- Club Xela 3: Nick Izzo scored twice and Gavin Townsend and Sammy Pineda added single tallies to lead The Cure to victory. Oscar Castejon scored twice and Johnny Morales added a single tally for Club Xela in the loss.
• DiCarlo Printing 7- Atlantic Dental 3: Brandon Tolan scored twice and Devon Carmack, Colby Bounds, Rick Coker and Pat Spicer each scored once to lead DiCarlo printing to the win. Atlantic Dental got single tallies from Chris Barton, Phil Wakefield and Logan Hall.
• River Soccer Club 5- Brazil 5: Jonathan Forte and Peter Mais each scored two goals and Brandt Mais added a single tally for the River Soccer Club’s five goals. William Alvarado scored twice and Kevin Alvarado, Altieres Sosa and Alberto Sosa each scored once for Brazil as the two teams played to a 5-5 tie.
• The Cure 9- Brazil 4: Gavin Townsend had a hat trick for The Cure, while Skye Cody scored twice and Sammy Pineda, Joe Pino and Trae Pinto each added single tallies. Stas Mareev and David Mesquita each scored twice for Brazil in the losing effort.
• Claddagh on the Shore 4- The Misfits 2: Steve Isset scored two goals and Jamie Greenwood and Jay Perozgino each scored once to lead the Claddagh to victory. Maggie Berke and James Lockard each scored single tallies for the Misfits.
• River Soccer Club 6- Kirby’s Pub 4: Six players scored single goals for the River Soccer Club. Shaun Bounds led Kirby’s with two goals.
• Sunsations 7- Club Xela 2: Alberto Pacheco scored a hat trick and Mihai Tatulescu scored two times to lead Sunsations. Carlos Perez and Maycal Morales each scored once to lead Club Xela.
