Mallards Ride Streak Into Holiday Break

BERLIN- After sputtering through much of the first part of the season, Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team finished with a flourish before the Christmas break with a win over Delmarva Christian, 39-34, for its fourth straight.

The Mallards got out of the box on an up note with a 50-29 win over Gunston in the season opener, but then dropped four in a row including two at the Indian River Tip-Off in Delaware earlier this month. Since then, however, the Worcester boys have reeled off four straight including the 39-34 win over Delmarva Christian last Wednesday.

The rest will be short-lived for the Mallards, however, who will compete in the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury during the holiday break. Worcester is scheduled to face Kings Christian in its tournament opener on Saturday. After the holiday tournament, the Worcester boys will return to regular season action against Gunston at home on January 6.
