BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s Dayona Godwin scored 31 points in the Seahawks’ 67-35 win over Crisfield on Tuesday to become the school’s all-time scoring leader.

Godwin entered the season with 1,395 points, just 99 shy of the school record set by Elise Mercer in 2005. With 56 points in the first two games, Godwin was just 43 points away from the Decatur girls’ scoring record at the end of last week. Godwin scored 26 in a 76-28 win over Colonel Richardson last Thursday, and added another 31 in the Seahawks’ win over Crisfield on Tuesday to set the new record.

Godwin’s point total after Tuesday was 1,508, which nudged her past Mercer’s previous record of 1,494. In the 76-28 win over Colonel Richardson, Amaya Mumford also scored 26 points. On Tuesday against Crisfield, Godwin led the Seahawks with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Mumford scored 13 and Lexie VanKirk added 12. With the pair of wins, the Seahawks’ record now stands at 4-0.
