Worcester Girls Split Pair, Now 3-2

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team split a pair of games last weekend at the Indian River Tip-Off Tournament to improve to 3-2 on the season.

The Mallards opened the season with two straight wins over Gunston and Broadwater Academy, but fell to Nandua in Virginia last Wednesday for their first loss of the season. Against Nandua, Karlie Southcomb led Worcester with 10 points.

Back in action last Friday, the Mallards beat Delmar, 32-24, in their first game of the Indian River Tip-Off. However, Worcester fell to host Indian River, 23-20, in a tight, low-scoring contest in their second game of the tournament last Saturday and are now 3-2 on the season. Worcester girls will host Holly Grove at home on Monday, followed by a road contest with Delmarva Christian next Wednesday in their last game before the holiday break.
