Mallards’ Early Season Struggles Continue

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team’s early season struggles continued last weekend after getting swept in the Indian River Tip-Off Classic in Delaware.

The Mallards opened the season with a 50-29 win over Gunston, but have since lost four straight. Last Monday, the Mallards fell to visiting Broadwater Academy, 61-43, and followed that with a loss to Nandua in Virginia on the road last Wednesday. In the loss to Nandua, Tucker Brown led Worcester with 16 points while Sam Cantello added eight.

Last weekend, Worcester competed in the Indian River Tip-Off Tournament against some of the top teams in the lower Delaware area and the results were the same. The Mallards fell to Laurel, 63-31, in their opener on Friday, then lost to host Indian River in their second game on Saturday. The Mallards hope to get back on track with a home game against Chincoteague on Friday, followed by another home game against Holly Grove next Monday.
