Light Up Downtown Festival Announced

OCEAN CITY — The local and visiting community is encouraged to welcome the holiday season on the Boardwalk at the Inlet next weekend.

The Light Up Downtown Winter Festival is Saturday, Nov. 21 from 3-6 p.m. The festival is presented by the Ocean City Downtown Association along with sponsors Dough Roller, Trimper’s Rides, OCDC and the Town of Ocean City.

The festival will feature holiday shopping, kids’ crafts, games and prizes, drawings, horse and carriage rides and live music by the band, One Night Stand. Food, hot chocolate and adult beverages will be available as well.

The Inlet Village will become Santa’s Village, festively decorated and with many of the shops open. Santa will be there, too.

At dusk, as the lights come on, see how attractive a holiday stroll down the Boardwalk will be as organizers continue to Light Up Downtown.

Admission is free. There is a nominal charge for games and carriage rides. Profits from the festival will be used toward the purchase of large light displays for future years.

The Downtown Association’s goal is to give tourist and residents alike a reason to spend time downtown during the holidays and increase business for those downtown establishments that remain open during the winter months.

Anyone wishing to participate as a vendor in the event or make a donation to bring the holiday lights back to downtown should call Mary Ann at 703-731-6515.
