Worcester Girls’ Dream Season Continues

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity soccer team’s dream of a perfect season is alive and well after the Mallards dispensed with Salisbury Christian, 6-0, in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference semifinals at home on Wednesday.

The Mallards improved to 10-0 on the season with the win over Salisbury Christian in the ESIAC semifinals. The win sets up an ESIAC championship game against old rival Saints Peter and Paul on Friday. Playing Saints Peter and Paul in the conference championship is fitting as the Mallards make a bid for a perfect season. Last year, the Sabres edged Worcester, 1-0, in double overtime to claim the ESIAC title.

Against Salisbury Christian on Wednesday in the semifinals, Worcester got out to an early lead and led, 5-0, at halftime. Early in the second half, Worcester added another goal to take a 6-0 lead and were never really threatened much down the stretch as they cruised to the championship game. Julia D’Antonio led Worcester with two goals, while Madison Bescak, Karlie Southcomb, Kaylee Dickerson and Delaney Abercrombie all added single tallies.

With the win, the Mallards improved to 10-0 on the season with one big game remaining. Worcester only gave up two goals all season, the last coming against Gunston back on September 30.
