Fall Flag League Nearing Finish Line

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s Fall Flag Football League continued this week with a full slate of games. The following is a quick look at some of this week’s action:

• Fogle’s 17- Atlantic Stand 16: Atlantic Stand got on the board first on a 16-yard touchdown run by Drew Burke to take an 8-0 lead. Fogle’s answered with a touchdown pass from Drew Murray to Chris Coates. Murray then hit Will Hastings with another touchdown pass to put Fogle’s ahead, 14-8. After a 60-yard run by Phil Canning, Berke ran it in from three yards out to put the Atlantic Stand back on top, 16-14. With time running out, Fogle’s drove down to the Atlantic Stand 23-yard line and Kelly Sullivan nailed a field goal to seal the 17-16 win for Fogle’s.

• Dr. Rush/Duffy’s 18- Greene Turtle 0: Barry Snowden ran for a 20-yard touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to Justin Fiedler. Dr. Rush/Duffy’s got their third and final score on an interception returned for a touchdown by Vince Stewart.

• Eastside Mafia 32- Taphouse 6: Taphouse got on the board first on a touchdown pass from Brooks Morton to Scott Wheeler, but that was their only score in the game. Eastside Mafia pulled away on touchdown passes from Ray Taranto to Shameal Stanley, Ron Strickler, Jordan Townsend and Mack Williams. J.D. Johnson also returned an interception for a touchdown for the Mafia. Markell Purnell had two interceptions and Strickler had two sacks.
