Two Injured In PWC Accident Near Assateague

ASSATEAGUE — A Pennsylvania man and his daughter were injured in a jet ski accident on Tuesday morning when one personal watercraft collided with another while on a guided tour near Assateague.

Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, a guided personal watercraft tour group including a family of four — a dad, mom and two daughters — from Mohnton, Pa., was cruising in the coastal bays when one of the vessels collided with another. The collision occurred around a half-mile north of the Verrazano Bridge that connects the mainland to Assateague.

One of the jet skis operated by a father, 42, with his young daughter as a passenger, collided with another jet ski in the same tour group. The father suffered head injuries, while the daughter suffered back and elbow injuries. There were no injuries reported on the other jet ski involved in the collision.

The injured father and daughter were taken to PRMC in Salisbury for treatment. Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) have seized and stored both jet skis involved in the collision.
