OCEAN CITY — A Delmar man was arrested on attempted robbery and other charges early Sunday morning after allegedly displaying a shotgun and threatening a pizza delivery person in the downtown Ocean City area.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, several Ocean City Police officers were dispatched to the area of 4th Street and Washington Ave. after a report of an unidentified man with a shotgun. When officers arrived in the area, they observed a man matching the description of the suspect and detained him without incident. The suspect was identified as Lemarvis Trotter, 28, of Delmar.

While OCPD officer were on the scene, they were contacted by a victim who told police he had been assaulted by Trotter. The victim, who was delivering a pizza in the area, told police he observed Trotter placing a shotgun in the trash before approaching him. The victim told police Trotter then attempted to pick-pocket him and assault him.

The investigation determined Trotter was the suspect in the incident and he was placed under arrest. OCPD officer conducted a search of the area and located a Remington 870 20-gauge shotgun in a dumpster nearby. Trotter has been charged with attempted robbery, second-degree assault, possession of a concealed deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was ordered to be held at the Worcester County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
