37 Arrested In OC Police’s Undercover Op

OCEAN CITY — The Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division’s Narcotics Unit’s buy-bust undercover operation in June was a success with the arrest of dozens of dealers during the month.

Throughout the month of June, OCPD undercover narcotics officers conducted a buy-bust operation during which they pose as prospective buyers to identify dealers. The operation took place at various locations throughout Ocean City during June in an attempt to remove drugs from the community.

All in all, the undercover operation led to 23 drug transactions and 37 drug distribution arrests. During the undercover operations, detectives seized numerous drugs including marijuana, cocaine and other fake controlled dangerous substances. Detectives also seized four weapons and nearly $3,000 in currency.

The OCPD this week thanked the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Enforcement Team for their assistance in the operation. The CET consists of members of the Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police. Narcotics detectives were also assisted by the OCPD Special Enforcement Unit, Major Crimes Unit and Patrol Division.

Citizens are reminded that undercover officers continue to conduct drug enforcement operations throughout the year to ensure the safety of visitors and residents. Drug activity often leads to more serious criminal incidents and the OCPD Narcotics Unit is dedicated to keeping the citizens of Ocean City safe.
