BISHOPVILLE — A Georgetown, Del. man lost his life in a collision between a motorcycle and motor vehicle last Friday morning on Route 113 near Bishopville.
Around 11:35 a.m. last Friday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 113 and Bishopville Rd. The investigation revealed a 2000 Lexus SUV driven by Roberta Cropper of Bishopville was making a left turn from the southbound lanes of Route 113. As the Lexus crossed the intersection, it collided with a 2008 Suzuki 600 motorcycle driven by George E. Campbell III of Georgetown, Delaware.
The Lexus SUV then collided with two other vehicles traveling northbound on Route 113. Campbell was pronounced deceased at the scene. Cropper, the driver of the Lexus, was taken to PRMC for treatment of minor injuries. There were no injuries reported from the other vehicles involved in the accident.
Route 113 near Bishopville in the north end of Worcester County was closed for about four hours during the investigation and clean-up efforts. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the Bishopville Fire Department and the State Highway Administration assisted the MSP with the incident. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
