BERLIN- Several Berlin Little League All-Star teams continued to advance through Maryland District 8 pool play this week and appear to be paths toward the semifinals and ultimately finals.

The Berlin 9-10 All-Star team enjoyed another big week, sweeping four games last week to win the Delmar Invitational Tournament. In District 8 pool play, the 9-10 All-Star team also beat Willards, 13-2, last Thursday. Zac Powers was the winning pitcher and Luke Mergott and Brenner Gursky each went 2-4 at the plate with two singles apiece. Back in action on Monday, the Berlin 9-10 team routed Pocomoke, 25-0, in a game shortened by the slaughter rule. The 9-10 team played Fruitland this week with a chance to advance to the District 8 semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Berlin Little League 10-11 All-Stars also enjoyed a good week, beating East Wicomico, 6-3. Berlin trailed for much of the game, but scored four runs in the top of the 6th inning to pull out the 6-3 win. James Barrett was the winning pitcher in relief of Devin Pilarski. The 10-11 team played Delmar yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition.

The Berlin All-Star Major League team got its tournament started yesterday with a game against Delmar. The Major League All-Stars will face Fruitland on Saturday and Willards next Monday in pool play.
