Female Escapes Suspect After Being Kidnapped, Held For Days

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault and kidnapping, after allegedly holding a female victim against her will at his residence and sexually assaulting her for four days until she was able to escape on Tuesday.

Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputies received an emergency call for service regarding an abduction in the area of Old Ocean City Rd. and Keyes Lane. Responding deputies met with a 37-year-old female victim she had been held against her will at a residence on Keyes Lane since Saturday.

The victim identified the suspect as Harry Solomon Jones, 59, of Salisbury. Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation detectives interviewed the victim and learned during the course of her imprisonment she was restrained and assaulted physically and sexually by her alleged abductor repeatedly since Saturday.

On Tuesday, the victim was able to escape the residence on Keyes Lane and fled to the area of Old Ocean City Rd., where she was found by a citizen who assisted in contacting the police. The victim, who told police she had been detained at the residence since Saturday, was transported to PRMC where she was treated and later released.

A short time after the victim escaped and told police of the abduction and assault, Jones was located and taken into custody. A search and seizure warrant was executed on Jones’ residence and evidence was found corroborating the story provided to detectives by the victim. Jones has been charged with 14 total offenses including first- and second-degree assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment and several sexual assault charges.
