Decatur Girls Earn Top Seed In 3A-East Regional

BERLIN- The state regional basketball championship brackets were released this week with the Decatur girls earning the top seed in the Class 3A-East Section I.

The Decatur girls are the number-one seed in the 3A-East region’s Section I and earned a first-round bye. The Seahawks will face the winner of the first-round game between fourth-seeded Bennett and fifth-seeded Northeast. Northern in the second seed in the bracket and will face third-seeded Huntingtown in the first round.

In the girls’ 2A-East region Section II, Kent Island is the top seed and will either Easton (4) or Wicomico (5) in the second round. Parkside is the three-seed and will face sixth-seeded North Caroline in the first round. Queen Anne’s is the second seed and also earned a first-round bye.

In the girls’ 1A-East region Section II, Mardela is the top seed and earned a first-round bye. Mardela will face either Snow Hill (4) or Crisfield (5) in the second round. Pocomoke is the second seed and will face seventh-seeded Washington.

On the boys’ side, Decatur earned a number-four seed in the 3A-East Section I regional and will face fifth-seeded Huntingtown in the first round this weekend. Northeast is the top seed and will face the winner of the Decatur-Huntingtown game. Bennett is the second seed and will face third-seeded Northern in the first round.

In the boys’ 2A-East region Section II, Wicomico earned the top seed and a first-round bye. WiHi will face either North Caroline (4) or Easton (5) in the second round. Parkside is the second seed and also earned a first-round bye. The Rams will face either Queen Anne’s (3) or Kent Island (6) in the second round.

In the boys’ 1A-East region Section II, Pocomoke is the top seed and has a first-round bye. The Warriors will play the winner of Snow Hill (4) versus North Dorchester (5). Cambridge-South Dorchester (3) will face Mardela (6) in the first round, while Washington (2) will face Crisfield (7).
