BERLIN- Former Stephen Decatur girls’ soccer standout Tori Whigham has been named to the College Sports Madness Independent All-Conference Team in Division I for 2014 after an outstanding sophomore season at Francis Marion University.

Whigham, a key player in a long run of success for the Decatur girls’ varsity soccer team, recently completed her sophomore season at Francis Marion University in South Carolina by being named to the Independent All-Conference Team. With the All-Conference honor, Whigham continues to make her mark on the college level.

In October, she was named the school’s Student Athlete of the Week after an exceptional couple of games. Against Northern Kentucky, Whigham got Francis Marion on the board to stake the Patriots to an early 1-0 lead, then assisted on two late goals to have a hand in all of her team’s goals in the big win. A few days later, Whigham scored the eventual game winner against South Carolina State University on a tap in with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. The score was tied at 1-1 before Whigham netted the eventual game winner.
