OCEAN CITY- Despite chilly temperatures and high winds, the 3rd Annual Winterfest Jingle Bell Run last Sunday was again a big success with 165 runners competing.
The event took place last Sunday at Winterfest of Lights in Northside Park on 125th Street. The race took runners through an animated course of dazzling lights and spectacular holiday displays. Participants dressed in the holiday spirit and received an event T-shirt, hot chocolate and cookies and a ride on the Winterfest Express. Post-race activities and an awards ceremony were held at the Abbey Burger Bistro adjacent to Northside Park. Participants were encouraged to bring a toy for the Toys for Tots program.
For the record, James Mildenberger of Pasadena, Md. finished first among with 165 runners, coming in at 20:53.2. Zakary Keeler of Frankford was second, while Cheryln Minto of Dover finished third. Among the top local finishers were Lap Nguyen of Pocomoke (4), Vince Pavic of Salisbury (11), Caroline Green of Berlin (17), Adam Stachowiak of Berlin (18), Shawnee Berzonski of Berlin (19), Mark Reeves of Salisbury (20), Julia Knepp of Ocean City (23) and Luke Schofield of Snow Hill (25).
