SNOW HILL — A Philadelphia woman perished and three others, including two children, were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Route 113 near Snow Hill early last Friday morning.
Around 3 a.m. last Friday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a single-vehicle accident on southbound Route 113 near Blades Rd. in Snow Hill. Upon the troopers’ arrival, a Gold Ford Explorer was found in the grassy median with heavy damage and entrapment to the front passenger.
The investigation revealed the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Due to the impact with the tree, the vehicle rotated onto its roof and then landed on all four tires for its final resting position. The driver of the vehicle was the projected into the back seat. Seated in the rear passenger area were two small children ages 6 and 9.
The front-seat passenger identified as Jhoanna Lynn Tabourn, 27, of Philadelphia, succumbed to injuries sustained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as Robert I. Tabourn, Sr., 62, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore via MSP helicopter. The children were taken initially to PRMC and were later taken to Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.
The preliminary investigation reveals alcohol may have been a factor. The investigation was ongoing as of mid-week.
