OCEAN CITY — OC Sandfest, a new two-week event showcasing all the excitement of sand sculpting along with free family activities, kicked off on Monday.
Throughout this week, visitors to Ocean City could watch as internationally recognized master champion sand sculptors transformed beach sand into creative works of art. With Mother Nature hopefully cooperating, the sculptures will remain on display through Aug. 31 along the Ocean City Boardwalk from N. Division Street to 4th Street.
Friday evening, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m. will be the Grand Illumination where the completed sand sculptures will light up the night for the first time. The sculptures will be illuminated through Aug. 31, 8-11 p.m.
The weekend of Aug. 23 and 24 will be filled with free fun family events and activities including sand sculpting demonstrations and lessons, family games, sand sculpting competitions and more. All activities are free and will take place on the beach at North Division Street.
One of the family activities will be a Family Sand Sculpting Competition, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. on the beach at N. Division Street. Gather your friends and family and compete in this friendly competition. Space is limited so if you’d like to compete please plan to arrive early to register.
