BERLIN — Madeline Barton, an eighth grade student at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, was awarded the Worcester Preparatory School Sara Chase Carlson Scholarship, a four-year full tuition scholarship for Upper School students with an interest in and talent in the arts.

Barton has an extensive background in acting, singing and dance. She’s performed with the Clearspace Theater, Berlin’s Children’s Theater, X-Squad Dance Company, Ocean Pines Children’s Theater and in productions at Berlin Intermediate School and Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. Her dancing skills earned her first place as National/International Champion in X-Squad Dance Competition.

The scholarship recipient has been called “a quintessential student, who is committed to her academic studies and to her love of the arts.” When not going to school or training in voice, dance, and acting, she can be found volunteering for the Get Well Gabby Foundation and other community service organizations in our region.

“We are happy to award this scholarship to Maddie Barton, for she is obviously a wonderfully bright and talented young lady,” said Carlson, sponsor of the scholarship.
