Kayak And Marine Explorer Camp Offered

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks is offering a CD Outdoor Kayak Fishing and Marine Explorers Camp in two sessions this June and July.

The Outdoor Kayak Fishing and Marine Explorers Camp will include fun, hands-on activities that will allow young anglers a chance to catch and learn about many species of fish and marine organisms in the back bays of Assateague Island. Activities will include kayaking, fishing, knot tying, and lure and bait rig setups. Campers will explore salt marshes, tidal sand flats and oyster reefs and will catch crabs, shrimp and mollusks all while learning to use the proper equipment.

The camp will run for two days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The first session is June 23-24, and the second session is July 14-15. The camp is open to kids ages 11-14. Both sessions will take place at the Assateague Island Public Boat Launch.

Camp Director Captain Chris Dollar and his staff are enthusiastic fishermen who are eager to share their knowledge of the natural world with the next generation of anglers. Dollar has more than 15 years of experience as a professional outdoorsman and is certified in first aid, holds a U.S. Coast Guard master’s license and is active in numerous professional and conservation organizations.
