BERLIN- The Beach Lacrosse girls’ under-15 team completed a remarkable 2014 season with a big win in the Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association (ESYLA) championship game.

The nucleus of the Beach Lacrosse under-15 team played together for several years as they moved through the program’s ranks before putting together a special season in their last year together under the program. Most will continue to play together at the high school level and on various travel teams, but their time with the popular Beach Lacrosse program closed on a high note with the ESYLA championship last week.

The team’s mantra all season was “defense wins championships” and they rode that philosophy all the way to the league title. The girls went 6-1 on the season, they’re only loss coming in week one to Atlantic in a rain-soaked contest. The Beach U-15 girls knew they would likely have to win out the rest of the way to have a shot at the league championship and they did just that, winning their next six games.

The Beach Lacrosse U-15 team got a rematch with Atlantic in the ESYLA championship game last Tuesday and came away with a 7-6 win in a tight, well-played low-scoring game that was the team’s hallmark all season. The Beach U-15 girls competed in the eight-team ESYLA with other programs from all over the Eastern Shore and Lower Delaware.
