Kisses for Colby 5K a Big Success

OCEAN PINES- The Kisses for Colby 5K and one-mile walk held last weekend for the benefit of a local girl battling leukemia was a big success with nearly 100 competitors turning out for the good cause.

Produced by OC Tri Running, the Kisses for Colby 5K was held last Saturday in Ocean Pines and 90 runners competed. The race was run for the benefit of Colby Fowle, who was recently named the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Eastern Shore’s Girl of the Year. In January, Colby was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of three and is currently in the midst of 26 months of treatment. This year, Ocean Pines Police Officer Ricky Kerrigan has been nominated as one of five candidates for LLS Man of the Year and is conducting a series of event’s on Colby’s behalf that starts with the Kisses for Colby 5K and one-mile run or walk in Ocean Pines last Saturday.

For the record, Tim Robinson of Berlin finished first, while Evan Kolb of Berlin was second and Bruce Wentworth of Chincoteague was third. The top 10 local finishers included Robinson and Kolb along with Leo Cipollone of Ocean City (6th), Jessica Reeck of Berlin (8th), Ross Fowle of Ocean City (9th), Daniel Dypsky of Ocean City (11th), Bob Thompson of Ocean Pines (12th), Lukas Layton of Berlin (13th), Don Parana of Berlin (14th) and Brandon Altvater of Berlin (16th).
