New Lease Announced
SALISBURY – Bradley Gillis, a senior advisor with Sperry Van Ness–Miller Commercial Real Estate, has announced the former Floor Trader, a 10,000-square-foot building located in Delmar, will soon be occupied by Advance Auto Parts.
An out-of-town broker represented Advance Auto Parts in the 10-year lease and Gillis represented the landlord.
“The Town of Delmar continues to grow its Route 13 retail corridor and Advance Auto Parts will be a wonderful addition to the Delmar community. It was a pleasure to work on this lease and we look forward to seeing Advance Auto Parts in Delmar for years to come,” said Gillis.
Leadership Appointed
BERLIN – W. Thomas Mears, president and CEO, Shore Bank, headquartered in Olney, Va., has been selected for the Leadership Maryland Class of 2013.
Mears, a resident of Berlin, is one of 52 accomplished and talented Maryland leaders selected to participate in the eight-month program. Leadership Maryland is one of 34 state leadership programs nationwide and has graduated over 900 statewide leaders.
“The participants represent a broad spectrum of highly qualified executives from an extraordinary group of statewide applicants,” said Nancy Minieri, founding president and CEO of Leadership Maryland. “After participating in a comprehensive range of experiences during this milestone anniversary year, these leaders will serve as important participants in the unified effort to shape Maryland’s future.”
Following a two-day opening retreat in April, participants will attend five two-day, and one one-day intense sessions focusing on issues, such as, economic development, education, health and human services, criminal and juvenile justice, environment, and multiculturalism/diversity.

Top Producer Awarded
WILLARDS — Laura Deeley Bren, president of Atlantic/Smith, Cropper & Deeley, recently presented Nicole Brushmiller with an award for top producer of 2012 at the company’s annual meeting at the Princess Royale in Ocean City.
Brushmiller not only exceeded her annual goals, but was the top producer for the second year in a row. She specializes in commercial and transportation insurance.
New Designation Earned
OCEAN CITY — Coastal Association of Realtors® (CAR) announced 15 Realtors® have earned the Sellers Representative Specialist (SRS) professional designation, which recognizes real estate professionals who have completed special education in seller representation.
“CAR strives to provide higher education to local Realtors® to achieve the ultimate goal of raising the bar of professionalism and credibility in the industry,” said Sheila Dodson, executive director of CAR.
CAR brought in Adorna O. Carroll, a nationally recognized industry expert and co-founder of the SRS Council, to come to the association for training on seller representation.

Business Expo Planned
OCEAN PINES — The Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce will be holding the 3rd Annual Chamber Business Expo on Thursday, March 20, from 5-7 p.m. in the former Harley-Davidson building on Route 50 in Berlin.
All Worcester County business people are invited to attend and display their services or goods. Last year over 50 exhibitors displayed their services and products with creative and interactive exhibits in a wide range of interest such as business products, home improvements, social media, healthcare, education, financial, insurance, travel, beauty, massage, promotional products and more.
Organizers report this is a networking opportunity for members of all area chambers and for business people to mingle with fellow business owners, learn about new businesses in town and talk to hundreds of potential customers.
