BERLIN- With the NFL playoff field down to just four teams heading into this weekend, it’s not too early to start making plans to participate in the annual Super Bowl Scramble golf tournament and tailgate party at Eagle’s Landing on February 3.
Before settling in for the big game, local residents and visitors are encouraged to participate in the annual Super Bowl Scramble at Eagle’s Landing. Golfers will enjoy a fun tailgate party and a competitive round of golf, which will consist of a four-player scramble with a unique scoring format based on football.
“This event is very popular for locals and visitors alike and sells out each year,” said Eagle’s Landing head golf professional Bob Croll. “The Super Bowl Scramble is a great way for people to get outdoors and enjoy a round of golf before participating in the festivities of the big Super Bowl game in the evening.”
Each scramble team will consist of a coach, quarterback, running back and wide receiver. Scoring is done in the traditional football manner with points awarded for touchdowns, field goals and extra points. In addition, penalties will be issued for safeties and 30-percent of the team’s “A” player handicap will be counted as the team’s offense.
The tailgate party, which includes breakfast, begins at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start “kick-off” beginning at 10 a.m. The ticket price is $50 and includes greens fees, cart and entrance to the tailgate party. Also included is the “Throw the Bomb” on the third hole and Melanie’s Blitz Soup served at halftime. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.
