Top June Producers

Hospital Earns Safety
Award

BERLINAtlantic General Hospital has
received an award for the Keeping Patients Safe from Falls Safety Points
Incentive Program, coming in second place in the state. More than two dozen
hospitals in Maryland participate in this voluntary initiative, as a way to
minimize patient falls during their stay at the hospital.

The Keeping Patients
Safe from Falls Safety point’s initiative was created by the Maryland Patient
Safety Center which is a comprehensive falls program infrastructure. When
implemented correctly, this program is aimed to reduce incidents of falls and
the severity of the falls. Data collection includes outcome measures, and
process measures. Process measures include audit questions regarding safety
coordination, staff/patient education, fall screenings, risk factors, etc.

Laura Foskey, the
clinical leader of the medical/surgical department at Atlantic General, also
received recognition through this award. During her time as clinical resource
nurse, Foskey played an important role in improving quality and patient
outcomes in the inpatient area. She was responsible for inputting data for
Atlantic General Hospital on the Maryland Patient Safety Center website every
month and sending out tools to assist other facilities in decreasing their
falls risks.

Agents Lead Company

BERLIN
– Hileman
Real Estate, Inc. has announced top agents of the month. 

Sonia Zaffiris has been named top listing agent for the month of June, while
Bethany Drew has been named top sales agent for the month.

Stylist Passes Exam

WEST OCEAN CITY – A
Perfect Face Day Spa has announced that one of its top stylists, Jennifer Izzi,
has passed her Redken certified exam to become a top Redken Certified
Haircolorist.

With a comprehensive
understanding of the Redken haircolor principals, such as outstanding
consultations, creative color, foil placement and color
correction, her clients are guaranteed to receive exceptional service
and color results.

 “I really believe

New Chamber Director

OCEAN PINESThe Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce
has selected a new executive director to head up the organization of nearly 300
community businesses.

Wes McCabe, president of
the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce, has announced the selection of Liz
Kain-Bolen as executive director effective July 12.

Kain-Bolen formerly
worked with the Ocean City Chamber and has served as an ambassador for other
area chambers, providing experience and an understanding of both chamber
operations and the local business environment. Kain-Bolen has been employed in
the field of marketing locally since 1996 and graduated her class Summa Cume
Laude, receiving her degree in design and communications. She has also worked
with the Wellness Community-Delmarva as events coordinator and helped coordinate
the success of their recent fundraising efforts.

Physician Appointments

BERLIN – Atlantic
General Hospital recently appointed the following physicians to the medical
staff:

Amir Jundi, M.D., is a graduate of Tishreen University School of
Medicine, Lattakia, Syria and he completed his residency at Mount Sinai School
of Medicine Englewood, N.J. Jundi is board certified in internal medicine.

Stephen Patrick St. Pierre, M.D., is a graduate of the University of Washington
School of Medicine. Pierre completed his residency at Scott and White Memorial
Hospital in Temple, Texas and is a member of the American College of Emergency
Physicians.

Kenneth B. Ross, M.D., received his doctor of medicine from the
Northwestern University Feinburg School of Medicine in Chicago, Ill. and his
residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, N.Y. Ross
is ultrasound certified and a member of the American College of Emergency
Physicians.

Jeremy R. Strohkirch, M.D., graduated from Wayne State University School of
Medicine, Detroit, Mich. Strohkirch completed his residency in emergency
medicine from the University of North Carolina and is a member of the American
College of Emergency Physicians.
