William J. Fredrick

BERLIN – William Joseph Fredrick, age 94, died on Wednesday Feb. 3, 2010 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late William Francis Fredrick and Minnie Yeager Fredrick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, in 2006.

Fredrick was a lifetime member of the Steamfitter’s Local 602 in Washington, D.C. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Elks, and the Ocean City American Legion.

He is survived by a daughter, Gale Fredrick Yates and her husband, David of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Fredrick of Coatesville, Pa.; a sister, Verna Kraus of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a granddaughter, Claire F. Yates; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 209 C Milford Street, Salisbury, Md. 21804. Arrangements by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Terry G. Alspach

MILFORD, Del. – Terry Gene Alspach, 49, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.

Born in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of the late Joseph Dean Alspach and Lois Everett Alspach. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ault Alspach of Rehoboth Beach. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Alspach and wife Betty, of Omaha, Thomas Alspach of Omaha, and Rick Alspach and wife Carmen of Pflugerville, Texas. He leaves two sisters, Patricia Ann Alspach of Milford, and Brenda Kava and husband Ed of Omaha. He was a special grandfather to Shiloh, Julius and Samaria Baines of Omaha, Neb.

He was a plate maker and printer for Field Container Company in Salisbury and later became a bakery worker for Bread and Butter Bakery in Milford.

A memorial service will be held at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin on Friday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Omaha, Neb. at a future date.

Mildred L. Whealton

SELBYVILLE – Mildred Louise Whealton, 88, died at home on Feb. 7, 2010.

Born in Dagsboro, she was the daughter of the late Elisha William Coffin and Rebecca Timmons Coffin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Aubrey Whealton. She is survived by her three sons, George Long and wife Jeanette of Texas, Elisha Whealton and wife Lynette and John Daniel Whealton and wife Brenda, all of Georgetown, Del. She leaves one daughter, Mildred Christiansen, and husband Lonnie of NC, and a daughter-in-law, Soon Won of Hawaii. She was the adored grandmother to 10 and had 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Aubrey, and a daughter, Shirley.

She graduated from Buckingham High School in 1939 and was employed as a senior companion for First State Community Action.

 A service will be held on Friday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior.

Frank M. Notarangelo

BERLIN – Frank Michael Notarangelo, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Teaneck, N.J., he was the son of the late Anthony T. Notarangelo and Lillian Fasce Notarangelo. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Pegi” Notarangelo of Berlin; a son, Frank Notarangelo, Jr. and his wife Charlene of Oak Hill Va.; and daughters, Toni Elizabeth Eskridge and her husband William of Salisbury, Nicole Lynn Nittle and her husband William of Alexandria, Va., and Noelle Lisa Morgan and her husband Major Samuel Morgan of Fayetteville, N.C. There are 10 grandchildren, three brothers and a sister surviving.

Notarangelo was a sanitation contractor, owning and operating Notarangelo Carting Service in New Jersey He was a member of Ocean City Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Ocean City Baptist Church in Ocean City. Rev. Terry Davis will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean City Baptist Church, 12637 B Ocean Gateway, Ocean City, Md. 2182.

Ray E. Donaway Jr

BERLIN – Ray E. Donaway Jr., 79, of Berlin, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

He was born in Whaleyville, Md. and was the son of the late Ray E. Sr. and Charlie Elizabeth Holloway Donaway. 

He had been a carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 123 in Berlin and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Margie McBane of Berlin and her son Bill McBane; two sons, Randy Donaway and his wife Merry of Ridgely, Md. and Lynn Donaway of Frederica, Del.; three daughters,  Sue D. Holloway and her husband Calvin of Whaleyville, Md., Barbara D. Wingate of Parsonsburg, Md. and Lori Denkenberger and her husband Eddie of Frederica, Del; and the mother of his children, Swazanna Donaway of Frederica, Del. He also has five grandchildren, Tracy, Cal, Tom, Kim and Mandi, and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Dale Cemetery in Whaleyville.

At his request, he did not want any flowers but wanted donations to Dale Cemetery, c/o Herman Truitt, 11517 Dale Road, Whaleyville, Md. 21872.
