BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team battled Bayside Conference rival Parkside to a 5-5 tie at the intermission on Tuesday before a third quarter scoring binge by the Rams opened up the otherwise tight contest.
Parkside got the on board first in the game between Bayside heavyweights on Tuesday, but Decatur scored twice on goals by Matt Doherty and Nick Abbatacchio to take an early 2-1 lead. Decatur’s Tyler Bollinger scored with time running out in the first quarter to stake the Seahawks to a 3-2 lead, but Parkside battled back and the game as tied at 5-5 at the break.
However, Parkside rode a three-goal burst in the third quarter to open an 8-5 lead and Decatur could not make any real inroads on the lead. Each team scored two goals in the fourth as the Rams won 11-7.
