OCEAN CITY- The 2nd Annual March Madness Mini Golf Tournament benefiting Play It Safe 2009 is set to return to Old Pro Golf on 68th Street in Ocean City on Monday, March 9.

The O.C. Drug and Alcohol Prevention Committee is sponsoring the second annual March Madness Mini Golf Tournament this year and the proceeds will be dedicated to the Play It Safe program. Funds raised by the tournament will help with the celebration of the Play It Safe program’s 20th year.

The format features four players per team and the registration fee is $60 per team. Organizers are also still looking for individual hole sponsors at $25 per hole. Mini-golf enthusiasts are encouraged to grab a friend and come out for this great cause. Players are urged try to beat the pros as four area golf course professionals are participating in the “Beat the Pros” challenge.

Great prizes will be handed out at the end of the tournament. Some of the top prizes already secured for the event included rounds of golf for four at some of the top area courses including Lighthouse Sound, Rum Point, Glen Riddle and Eagles Landing. Event organizers are still seeking additional prizes for participants.

For the 20th year, the mission of the Play It Safe program is to encourage high school graduates in the resort for Senior Week each summer to make informed, healthy choices while having fun without the use of alcohol or drugs. For more information about the tournament, please contact Pete Peterson at (302) 436-6195, or visit the organization’s website at www.playitsafeoceancity.com.
