Marina Deck Offers Summer Comedy Tour

OCEAN CITY – The Marina Deck restaurant on the bay at the foot of Dorchester Street last weekend began a summer-long comedy club, featuring some of the top stand-up comedians from all over the country including some easily recognizable performers.

The Marina Deck is offering comedy shows nightly in the cocktail lounge area. The shows are held nightly at 9:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, plus Midnight Madness shows on Friday and Saturday night. Every show has at least three comedians and there is always at least one comedian from HBO on the line-up.

With advanced booking, the Marina Deck is offering dinner and the show for two people for $99.99. There is also a supervised kids’ movie room for children for whom the content of the comedy might be too adult oriented.

The weekend shows will feature some of the best comedic talent in the country throughout the summer. For example, tonight and tomorrow, July 4-5, the Marina Deck will feature comedian Dave Tullis, who is frequently seen on HBO and NBC and is a regular performer at some of the country’s top comedy clubs.

Next weekend, Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12, the Marina Deck will feature Marc “Skippy” Price, who, after guest appearances as a child actor on “Archie Bunker’s Place” and “One Day at a Time”, gained national fame as the nerdy neighbor on the popular 1980s NBC sitcom “Family Ties.”

On July 18-19, the Marina Deck welcomes actor and comedian Michael Winslow, known as the “Man of 10,000 Sound Effects” for his ability to make realistic sound effects using only his voice. Winslow is best known for his role as Sgt. Larvell “Motor Mouth” Jones in the “Police Academy” series of movies and TV shows.

Comedian Billy West arrives at the Marina Deck for shows on July 25-26. West’s voices are heard all over the world, whether it’s in a cartoon or a commercial. He is best known for providing the voices for Ren and Stimpy, and he is a self-proclaimed devotee of Mel Blanc, who provided the voices for Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, for example.

On Aug. 1-2, comedian Artie Fletcher is scheduled to appear on the Marina Deck stage. Fletcher is one of the industry’s most talked about “must see” performers and has been a regular guest on late night shows like David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. He is also an accomplished actor with appearances on Law and Order, NYPD Blue, and Third Watch.

On Aug. 9-10, another popular sitcom actor hits the Marina Deck stage when Dustin Diamond, who played “Screech” on “Saved by the Bell” arrives. Diamond is an actor, musician and comedian who has been doing stand-up comedy for many years.

One of the top female comedians in the country hits the Marina Deck stage on Aug. 15-16 when Diane Ford and her seven nominations for “Best Stand-up Female Comedian” hit the stage. Ford’s television credits include performances on HBO’s “Women of the Night,” “One Night Stand,” and Command Performance.” Her resume also includes appearances on Showtime, Comedy Central and Fox.

On Aug. 22-23, famous comedian Jimmie “JJ” Walker arrives on the Marina Deck stage. Walker appeared for years on the television show “Good Times” as JJ, with his signature catch phrase “Dyn-O-Mite.”

Finally, on Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, the Marina Deck will welcome Brian Dunkleman to the comedy club stage. Dunkleman is perhaps best known for co-hosting the first season of American Idol with Ryan Seacrest. He has since appeared on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, had a recurring guest role on “Two Guys and a Girl,” and played a stand-up comic suspected of murder on “NYPD Blue.”
